Shoreline Vision ASC Earns Best Performer Status in Benchmarking Study

Shoreline Vision’s ambulatory surgery center in Muskegon, Michigan, has been recognized by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) as a Best Performer in Cataract Extraction with Lens Insertion, based on results of a benchmark study conducted from July to December 2023. 

The study, comprised of AAAHC-accredited institutions, examined several measures of patient care: 

• Patient arrival time to procedure start time 
• Time in the OR 
• Time from the end of the procedure in the OR to meeting medical discharge criteria to go home 

Nurse Administrator Mary Bockheim helped coordinate the study for Shoreline Vision. Under her direction, two nurses collected and submitted data for 30 cases throughout the study period.  

The Best Performer designation reflects the center’s short pre- and post-procedure times. 

Mary said the results demonstrate Shoreline Vision’s standard practices are efficient and well-organized, enhancing performance and allowing for more procedures to be completed in a timely manner.
